Arrival on the international airport of Santiago and transfer to your accommodation in the capital Praia. The next three nights you will stay in the same hotel.

The full day island tour leads you to Assomada and its famous African market. Especially the big weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is a perfect opportunity to stroll around. Besides fruits, vegetables, fish and meat you will find almost everything that you will need here. The tour continues over jagged mountainous regions of the northern mountain range – the Serra Malagueta. After a refreshing break in the beautiful beach town Tarrafal (please bring your swimsuit) you will drive via the east coast back to Praia.

Today we will visit the historical former capital Cidade Velha which is now UNESCO world heritage. 500 years ago the slave traffic of the archipelago started here – a slave pillory is still left from this time. We will walk up to the bay where former pirates and slave trader anchored, stroll through the centre of Cidade Velha and learn more about this "old city" and its history. Afterwards transfer to Calabaceira and hike from the Ribeira Grande valle back down to Cidade Velha. In the evening we will invite you to a dinner with live music (if possible).
